Social Media & AI Policy
Social Media Policy for Counselling Clients in the Comox Valley
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), I follow the BCACC requirement to maintain a Social Media Policy that clarifies how I use—or do not use—social media in my practice. This policy outlines how I conduct myself online as a mental health professional and what you can expect regarding any potential interactions on the internet.
If you have any questions, we can discuss them in session. As technology evolves, I may update this policy and will note any changes on my website.
Connecting Online: Boundaries in the Therapeutic Relationship
I do not accept friend requests or connect with clients on social media. My personal accounts are private, and I do not interact with clients through any social networking sites. If you need to contact me between sessions, please reach out by email.
Following Clients: Why I Maintain Clear Digital Boundaries
I do not follow current or former clients on social media. Viewing your online content outside our sessions can blur boundaries and may influence our work in unhelpful ways.
I will not search for or view your online activity without your consent and a clear therapeutic purpose. If parts of your online life feel relevant to therapy, you’re welcome to bring them into our sessions so we can explore them together.
If you contact me between sessions with concerns that require therapeutic processing, I may suggest we address them in session.
Online Searches and Client Privacy
It is not part of my standard practice to search for clients online.
Reviews, Testimonials, and Online Commentary
I will never request or solicit reviews or testimonials. BCACC ethical standards prohibit counsellors from seeking testimonials from clients.
You are free to share your therapy experience in any forum you choose. Because of confidentiality, I cannot respond to online reviews or comments, whether positive or negative.
If you have thoughts or feelings about our work together, I encourage you to bring them directly into session so we can address them collaboratively.
Location-Based Services and Protecting Your Privacy
If you use GPS or location-sharing features on your device, please be aware that others could infer your visit to my office, as it appears on Google Maps. I do not use location-based services or check-ins for my practice.

Commitment to Confidentiality and Ethical Practice
As a professional counsellor, I adhere strictly to the ethical guidelines set forth by the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). In alignment with these guidelines, I want to make it clear that artificial intelligence (AI) or any AI-powered tools will not be used in my practice in relation to the counselling services I provide, or in handling any personal or confidential information shared during our sessions.
I understand the sensitive nature of the material discussed in therapy, and I am committed to protecting your privacy and confidentiality at all times. My practice follows the highest standards of care and ethics to ensure that your personal information is never compromised. Specifically, I do not utilize AI technologies for:
Counselling Sessions: AI is not used in the delivery of therapeutic services. All interactions between us will be solely between you and me, in a confidential and human-centered environment.
